OK, here are the ideas presented to me so far:
- Don't forget Dan Dorman's sketch--it is 'prior art' to use a phrase from the Patent Office. ;)
- Do not include reference to something as easily changed as a repeater frequency.
- Add logos such as ARRL, ARES, etc., but not RACES logo.
- Enlarge the graphic of Franklin County to nearly fill the logo.
- Bring the entire schematic graphic to the foreground.
- I will add that I like the circular text rings, and would consider making all/most of the text into concentric rings of text.
Now, here are a few points on the above items that I suggest for pondering:
- If anyone has Dan's original, please get it (or a copy) to me, so that it can be added to the discussion; perhaps someone can alert Dan to the fact that this discussion is going on.
- What logos would we want? Who is going to run down the licensure/permission requirements for 3rd party logos?
- What would be featured as the center portion of the schematic? Would we be intruding onto trademarks if, for example, we used an inductor (ARRL)? I also seem to recall a resistor being used in some logo, but can't bring it to mind at this time. Actually, the reason I had the county outline above the schematic was to avoid being too specific with the middle of that schematic, and to perhaps avoid some of these other concerns.
Keep the ideas rolling in! Don't neglect to offer alternate graphics, too.

First Draft, 20-FEB-2010
Here is an idea for a logo for the Cumberland Valley Amateur Radio Club.
It is only an idea, intended to be a starting point for a discussion leading
to a decision by the club on what logo it wants. The logo could be used on
our QSL cards, made into bumper stickers or refrigerator magnets or ball caps,
make part of the website's background imagery, used on our 'official stationary',
and used for advertising flyers.
